How do I donate materials to the Cory Archives?


Answer :

Cory Library accepts archive and related materials that seeks to facilitate inter-disciplinary studies focused on the Eastern Cape and southern Africa. CL will only accept materials from depositors with the legal right to do so. Here’s the procedure for loans and donations:

  1. Potential depositors must contact the library via phone 046 603 8373 or email cory@ru.ac.za to discuss their intention to deposit materials.
  2. After initial contact, the library will provide a deposit questionnaire to complete.
  3. The completed questionnaire will be evaluated, and the depositor will be contacted regarding the next steps.
  4. Accepted deposits must be inventoried by the depositor and sent to the library with the materials.
  5. Deposits must be clean and free of dust and insects.
  6. Upon making the deposit, the depositor will sign a deposit agreement with Rhodes University.

Walk-In Deposits:
Walk-in deposits (those arriving without prior arrangements) may be accepted if appropriate. The depositor must complete a deposit questionnaire and sign an agreement if the deposit is accepted. Clear instructions must be given for any items that do not fit the library’s holdings.

Cory Library staff reserves the right to exercise discretion in exceptional cases.
